Sometimes the afternoon can feel long, especially when energy starts to wane. A homemade protein bar can be the perfect solution for a boost. Simple, quick to prepare, and full of flavor, this sweet, filling recipe will keep you going all day long.

Ingredients

  • 80 g pitted dates
  • 100 g almonds
  • 40 g protein powder, ideally chocolate or vanilla flavored
  • 25 g unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 to 2 tbsp water or plant-based milk, if needed
  • Optional: 30 g melted dark chocolate for topping

Preparation

Blend the almonds until coarsely chopped. Add the dates, protein powder, cocoa, and salt. Blend until the mixture starts to clump together.

If the mixture is too dry, add a little water or plant-based milk, one spoonful at a time. The mixture should be compact, slightly sticky, but not liquid.

Press into a baking dish lined with parchment paper. Optionally, add a thin layer of melted dark chocolate. Chill for at least 1 hour, then cut into bars.
